The Honesty Bar
There are no staff behind the bar at Bossington Hall, no card machine to tap, and no waiting. The Honesty Bar operates entirely on trust — you help yourself, keep a note of what you’ve had, and settle up on departure. It is a system that suits the kind of guests who stay here, and it rarely lets anyone down.
The bar is stocked with a carefully chosen selection at sensible prices: local ales and ciders, white and red wine, a range of spirits including Wicked Wolf Gin and Exmoor Vodka — both distilled in the Exmoor hills — alongside mixers, soft drinks and a wine fridge. An ice machine, bottle openers and glasses are all provided. Red wine and ale are kept at room temperature.
Corkage is not charged, so you are welcome to bring your own bottle and enjoy it in the bar or take it to the terrace.
Just along the corridor is The Nook — a separate room where you will find the Guest Larder. This is where the chef-prepared meals, cheese boards and other food options are kept, along with plates, cutlery and everything you need to eat in. The two spaces sit naturally together — a drink from the bar, something to eat from The Nook — but they are distinct rooms, each with their own quiet character.
Both are open 24 hours. They are somewhere to wind down after a day on the moors, to linger over a nightcap, or to find yourself in conversation with fellow guests you hadn’t planned to meet. Some of the best evenings at Bossington Hall begin here.
