Bossington Hall Grounds & Activities

Regularly compared to the Lake District for the quality of the walking in the area, Somerset is sometimes overlooked, but walkers are welcome here, and great paths, well signposted with finger posts, run right from the rear gate across the moors. In the grounds, you have eight acres of informal gardens and woodland to explore, with glorious views of Porlock Vale. Boasting expansive lawned areas, tennis and badminton courts, the oldest private Squash court in England. Furthermore, a mill pond, shallow river and waterfall all in the gardens makes it rather more akin to a boutique hotel than a B and B.

Bossington Hall in History

The house was built in 1911 by Allan Hughes, one of the last great independently minded nineteenth-century ship owners. Full of interesting, quirky and cosy spaces, this country residence was designed to cater for a large family with their individual requirements. Originally simply called Lynch, this changed to Lynch Country House in the 1980’s, then again to Bossington Hall in 2016 due to a name clash.

Our interior design is purposely in keeping with 1920’s understated elegance, so whilst offering comfort, style and practicality, WiFi is available throughout, and the plumbing is fully modernised.
